Power and Partnership: creating the conditions to share power and inspire partnership
Historically, power in organisations has mostly been held hierarchically – by the few rather than the many, those with the longest tenure, most senior positions, or subject matter expertise. Over the last few years, we’ve been noticing an increased awareness of the role power plays in organisations and a desire to find new ways to share and distribute power to inspire greater partnership, creativity, and inclusion.
Power is always present between people, within teams and across organisations. Becoming more aware of our relationship to power can provide a significant cultural and strategic unlock. For many leaders, this involves getting out of the way and creating the conditions for different ideas and voices to be heard, leveraging the collective intelligence which enables creativity and problem solving to flourish; for others, it means recognising and believing that they have something valuable to contribute, and making choices that support themselves to step into their own power and cultivate a sense of agency.
In this 90-minute virtual hangout, we invite you to join us for a collective conversation about our relationship to power, and to explore what experiments might enable you to foster an environment of more partnership and less dominance. We will be sharing our latest thinking on power and its connection to leadership and organisational culture.
We’d be delighted to share the space with you, and you’re welcome to extend the invitation to other people you think this might be of interest to, but we do ask for you to let us know if they are able to attend.
